A new fiber-optic connector cleaning product released by a Connecticut-based manufacturer can eliminate the need for manual contact and wiping, according to MicroCare LLC, the company behind the product.

The Pro360° Touchless Cleaner, which is branded as a Sticklers product, represents “a significant leap forward for the fiber-optic industry,” according to MicroCare’s announcement about the product’s release.

“By providing fast, no-contact cleaning, technicians can now clean hundreds of fiber connectors per hour with ease,” said Rick Hoffman, the commercial sales manager for Stickler. “This innovative tool allows them to maximize efficiency while minimizing network issues caused by contaminants and static.”

MicroCare’s announcement explained that the product uses compact cannisters that house non-flammable cleaning fluid, which the company also described as sustainable.

“Touchless Cleaner will be a game-changer for telecom contractors, enterprise IT teams, and service providers looking to future-proof their fiber optic networks,” Hoffman said, in comments included with MicroCare’s announcement.

The product is powered by two rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and is equipped with adapter tips for 1.25mm and 2.5mm connector, and the company said they will broaden the product’s versatility to handle 1.6mm military connectors, 2.0mm broadband connectors, and MPO/MTP connectors.

“The tool efficiently removes contaminants with a precisely delivered high-purity cleaning fluid and a pressurized air stream, leaving the fiber optic end face clean and dry in just 3.5 seconds,” MicroCare’s announcement stated. “By eliminating the need for manual contact or wiping, this innovative tool cleans sensitive fiber surfaces removing moisture, dust, fingerprint oils and static.”

The solution can be used on both fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), fiber-to-the-antenna (FTTA), and data center applications, the company’s announcement added.
